Industrial diamond cutting for a leading jewellery company
Overview
The customer required a cost effective system that enabled them to successfully gain force information for a large range of industrial diamond cutting processes.
Objectives
The customer wanted a system that cut their diamonds, but also measured and recorded the resistance on the blade, to obtain a higher degree of accuracy whilst cutting.
Solution
- Custom manufacture design, using an LG Elevation stage to move blade down onto the diamond
- Controller tuned for torque mode on diamond cutting wheel
- A servo motor was used, so torque could be measured and recorded
- Cutting tank and ancillary engineering all by LG Motion Ltd.
Benefits Gained
- A higher degree of accuracy gained from the recordings of resistance from the blade as it cuts different materials in varying conditions.
